Every year, we (herein referring to the Latin American Business Club) have employed the annual leadership conference as a channel to fulfill one of our main objectives--to create greater awareness of the socio-political issues facing Latin America. In the past, we have hosted prominent Latin American business leaders and various former presidents in the conference so that they may lead discussions on entrepreneurship, politics, and social action in the region.
While the leadership conference is and will continue to be a large focus for our organization, this year we have also placed significant emphasis on creating and fostering strong relations with Latin American alumni from Boston College. The objective of this initiative is threefold:
1. To create a network between current Latin American students and Latin American alumni from Boston College, while also serving as a medium for the alumni to network and connect among themselves
2. To encourage the involvement of Boston College Latin American alumni in our organization
3. To increase alumni participation in our annual conference, and provide them with the opportunity to network with prominent business and political leaders in Latin America As evidenced in subsection V of the document, we have hosted our second annual LABC alumni panel in October to commit to our initiative for the 2017-18 academic year (details below). As the alumni base of the Latin Americans of Boston College continues to expand, we believe that it is essential to leverage it in order to further our objectives and grow as an organization.
